Contract type: Period 1 October 2025 until 30 September 2026, 6 hours a week.
Salary £18,308 per year (current rate).
The main duties of the post will be: to teach undergraduates studying Pre-Clinical medicine for an average of six hours per week in full term, to share in the organisational responsibility and administration of the BA Medicine degree, to act as Director of Studies for a number of undergraduates studying Medicine, to provide study skills and pastoral support, and to take part in the undergraduate admissions exercise.
The successful candidate will be able to teach the second-year Principles of Pathology course and to deliver specialist tutorials for the Final Honour School, ideally covering immunology, molecular pathology and infection related topics. They will have completed, or be about to complete, a doctorate in Medicine in a topic relevant to this teaching range. The ability to provide excellent small-group tutorial teaching to high-achieving undergraduates is essential.

Merton College proposes to make an election to a fixed-term, non-stipendiary Julia de Lacy Mann Fellowship in Medical Sciences from 1 October 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. This Fellowship is available to an exceptional independent researcher (i.e., with a first independent position which started here or elsewhere no more than three years before 1st October 2025) who holds a significant external award for independent research in the Medical Sciences Division at the University of Oxford and is intended to provide the opportunity for them to benefit from association with Merton College and to engage with the Merton community.
The Fellow will not be an employee of the College and there is no stipend attached to this fellowship.
The Fellow will be elected for a period not exceeding five years and the fellowship will come to an end if the Fellow ceases to hold the award on the basis of which they were elected or if they are elected to a fellowship in another College, Society, or Hall of the University. The Fellow cannot be re-elected.

Merton College invites applications for a Bar & Catering Assistant.
The post holder will support the Bar Manager in the day to day running of the College Bars and provide excellent customer service to members and visitors of the College.
The Bar and Catering Assistant will be a valued member of our catering team with excellent interpersonal skills and customer service experience.
Working hours are 40 hour week, normally over 5 days a week, you will be required to evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Times of work will vary in accordance with the weekly duty roster notified to you in advance by your Head of Department. Throughout the year, you will be expected to work up to 14 late events, including BOPs, Gaudy, and the College Ball.
